Terms
Last changed: 31 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Wandle Technologies Limited, which runs Yuse ("we" and "us"). We're a company registered in England and Wales, number 17156588. Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ.
By creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy notice.
What Yuse is
Yuse helps you find a tradesperson through people you know. A homeowner asks their network. Friends recommend tradespeople they've used. The homeowner picks up to three. A picked tradesperson can then open the job, and the homeowner and the tradesperson get each other's WhatsApp.
Yuse is being tested with friends and family. The Yuse team does some things by hand, and what Yuse does will change.
Yuse puts homeowners and tradespeople in touch. We aren't part of any agreement between them, and we don't do, supervise or guarantee the work.
Who can use Yuse
- You must be 18 or over. You confirm it when you sign up.
- For now, Yuse is invite-only. You join with an invite from the Yuse team, through an ask link someone shared with you, or through a group's invite link. A profile link someone shares lets you see their profile, but not join.
- One account per person, with a UK mobile you've confirmed with a code, and an email address. Keep them up to date.
- You're responsible for your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
Homeowners
- Post jobs only for a home you live in or own, tenants and landlords included, and only for work you want done.
- Describe the job honestly. Don't put anyone's phone number, email or street in it.
- Yuse's cost estimate is a rough guide from typical prices. It isn't a quote.
- Ask Yuse uses AI to help you describe your job. What it says can be wrong or incomplete, so check your job before you post it.
- A tradesperson you picked gets your name and WhatsApp only once they've opened your job.
- You and the tradesperson agree the work, the timing and the price, and you pay them directly. Yuse never charges homeowners.
- After the job, we'll ask whether it was done and whether the recommendation was accurate. Your answer decides the £5 (How the £5 works).
Recommenders
- Recommend only tradespeople you've used yourself, and never your own business. An account with a business can't recommend, for now.
- Be honest. Say what they did for you and roughly when, in your own words. Your note needs at least 20 characters.
- Who sees it: the homeowner whose job it answers, the tradesperson you recommend once they're picked, and the Yuse team. People who follow you, and members of your groups, see it on their own jobs in that trade. No one else sees it.
- Recommendations can be rewarded. You may earn £5 (How the £5 works), and we say so beside every recommendation that can earn it.
- Keep to our policy on honest recommendations (below).
- Up to 10 active recommendations at a time.
- Inviting a tradesperson: Yuse gives you a message to send from your own phone. Send it only to the tradesperson you recommended.
Profiles, following and groups
- Your profile link. Anyone you send it to can see your profile and follow you, and so can anyone they pass it on to. Send it only from your own WhatsApp, to people you know. Yuse never sends it for you. What it shows is in our Privacy notice.
- Following is one way. Anyone can follow you without asking. Following someone shows you their recommendations on your jobs; it shows you their jobs only once they follow you back. You can unfollow anyone, or remove a follower, at any time, and they aren't told.
- Groups. The Yuse team creates each group, and you can ask for one. Joining shows your recommendations to every member, and theirs to you, and shows your jobs to members. It doesn't make you follow anyone. You can leave at any time, and your invite link then stops working.
- Removal from a group. The Yuse team may remove a member from a group for breaking these terms, or for not belonging to it, such as not living on that road or not being at that school. We tell them why in one line, and they can talk to the Yuse team. Someone removed can't join that group again by a link.
- Blocking. You can block anyone. They can't follow you or see your jobs, you don't see their recommendations, and they aren't told. Any follow between you ends, either way, and neither of you can follow the other while the block stands. On your ask links they see a page saying the job doesn't exist. In a group you're both in, you both stay members, and neither sees the other's recommendations or asks there. You can unblock them in Settings, and that makes no follows again.
Tradespeople
- Joining. Someone who has used you recommends you, and you join by confirming your own mobile. You agree to these terms when you set up your page.
- Job alerts. We send you job alerts only after you've said yes, on your set-up page or in a WhatsApp chat with us. They come by WhatsApp or by text, as you choose in Settings, and you can stop them at any time.
- What others see. Everyone sees your name and business name, as you chose at set-up, and your trade. Where your trades show, so does whether you're insured, with the date we checked. Your phone and WhatsApp show only to a homeowner whose job you open.
- Checks. Before you can open any job, the Yuse team checks your photo ID, your company if you have one, any registration the work needs (Gas Safe, F-gas, NICEIC or similar, or an asbestos licence), and your insurance where one of your trades needs it.
- You upload them on the Yuse checks page, and a person in the Yuse team checks each one by eye. For a limited company, we also look it up on Companies House. For now no AI reads them; if we switch that on later, AI only helps, and a person still decides. We keep them only as long as our Privacy notice says, and keep a record of each check. If uploads are paused, we check them by eye on a call and keep no copies.
- A check passes only with an expiry date, and lapses on that date. Where none of your trades needs insurance, insurance that expires doesn't stop your leads, but from that date we show that you're not insured.
- We may ask for more, or fail a check, and we give you the reason. You can ask us to look again.
- Insurance is needed only for some trades, such as gas, electrics, building and roofing; the checks page tells you whether yours do. With several trades, you need it if any of them does. Otherwise it's optional: if you send it, we check it the same way and show that you're insured.
- Insurance must be public liability cover in your name or your business's, with no minimum amount for now.
- If you add a trade that needs insurance, we ask for it and check again. Your checks stand while we do.
- A check is a dated record of what we saw. It isn't a recommendation of your work.
- When you're picked. If you're on Yuse, we send you a WhatsApp alert, and you have 48 hours from the alert to tap "Get their details". If you're not on Yuse yet, we can't message you first, so your 48 hours start when the homeowner picks you. If your checks haven't passed yet, we hold your place while we check. Once they pass, you have 24 hours to open the job, counted only between 07:00 and 21:00.
- Three places per job. Up to three tradespeople can open each job, each picked by the homeowner. You're told this before you open it.
- The lead price. Opening a job costs a lead price set by the job's estimated value: £10, £20, £30, £50 or £75. It's fixed when the job is posted and the same for every tradesperson on it. You see it before you commit. You pay once for that customer: no commission, and no further fee for that customer, repeat jobs included.
- Free leads. You get 3 free leads when you join. They have no cash value and can't be exchanged.
- For now, you can open jobs only with free leads. We'll tell you before paying for a lead starts, and these terms will change first.
- Refunds. The lead price pays for the homeowner's details, not for winning the job, so you don't get it back, including when the homeowner doesn't reply, goes with someone else or closes the job. In rare cases the Yuse team may choose to refund all or part of a lead, or give a free lead back. That's entirely up to us, you can't count on it, and one refund doesn't mean another. If we refund a lead, even in part, or give a free lead back, that homeowner is no longer your customer, so you'd pay as normal for a later job of theirs. If your payment goes through but the lead can't open, for example because your place has gone, we refund it automatically.
- The homeowner's details. Once you've opened a job, use the homeowner's name and WhatsApp only to deal with them as your customer. You're responsible for how you use them under data protection law.
- The work is yours. Your agreement with the homeowner, the quality of the work, your insurance and keeping to the law are your responsibility.
- Never offer anything for a recommendation, and keep to our policy on honest recommendations (below).
Honest recommendations
This is our policy on fake and misleading recommendations. The law treats recommendations on Yuse as reviews, so we must take reasonable steps to prevent, find and remove fake ones (Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, Schedule 20).
What counts as fake or misleading:
- a recommendation from someone who hasn't used the tradesperson themselves;
- a recommendation of your own business, or one written by the tradesperson or someone acting for them;
- a recommendation given in return for anything from the tradesperson, such as money, a discount or a favour. Yuse's own £5 is the only reward, and it's always disclosed;
- a recommendation from the tradesperson's partner or a relative.
- more than one account for one person, or a fake job posted to collect recommendations.
How Yuse prevents it:
- Only someone who has confirmed their own mobile with a code can recommend, with one account per person.
- Each recommendation says, in the recommender's own words, what the tradesperson did and roughly when they used them, in at least 20 characters.
- You can't recommend your own business, and for now an account with a business can't recommend at all.
- The £5 never depends on what a recommendation says. The homeowner alone decides it, after the job. A recommendation the tradesperson asked for never earns it and is labelled as asked for.
- We say beside every recommendation that can earn the £5 that it can.
- Yuse never writes, edits or drafts a recommendation's words, with AI or otherwise.
- A job shows its recommendations in a plain order: most recent use first, then the newest recommendation. Nobody can pay for a better place, and free leads, payments or scores never change it.
How we find it:
- The Yuse team looks at new recommendations for signs of a fake: several for one tradesperson from new accounts at once, the same words in more than one, or a recommender linked to the tradesperson.
- Anyone can report a recommendation, a job or a person, with "Report" beside it.
What we do:
- We look into each report within 2 working days.
- We remove a recommendation we believe is fake or misleading. A removed recommendation can't earn the £5.
- We may suspend or close the account that wrote it. If the tradesperson was behind it, we may stop them getting jobs through Yuse and close their account.
- We tell the people involved what we did and why, in one line, unless the law stops us, and they can talk to the Yuse team about it. Anyone can ask us to look again, and two people in the Yuse team review it.
- We keep a record of each case: what was reported, what we found and what we did.
What nobody may do
- Break the policy on honest recommendations above.
- Use anyone's details for anything but the job they were shared for.
- Harass anyone, copy Yuse's content in bulk, or try to get round its security.
Messages
Sign-in codes come by WhatsApp or text. You can turn WhatsApp updates off in your settings, and codes still come. We hold updates overnight: from 21:00 to 08:00 for homeowners and recommenders, and from 21:00 to 07:00 for tradespeople.
Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time, in Settings, confirmed with a code sent to your mobile. It's deleted at once, and you can't undo it. If you're owed £5 that hasn't been paid yet, you lose it. Your phone number and email are removed, except what the law makes us keep, such as £5 payment records for 6 years (Privacy notice). Your recommendations stay on the jobs they're on as "a former member", without the £5 notice, and can't earn a £5.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and remove what it posted. We'll tell you why, unless the law stops us.
Our responsibility
- We aren't responsible for the work a tradesperson does, or for what's agreed or paid between a homeowner and a tradesperson.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
We show the date these terms last changed, and keep the old versions. If we change them in a way that matters to you, we'll tell you first.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with disputes. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use your local courts.
